Mathematics Instructor

Organization Overview:
The José Valdés Math Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization that provides six weeks of summer math instruction to elementary, middle-school and high-school students from low-income families, as well as providing year-round tutoring. We serve approximately 400 to 600 students each summer, and the ultimate goal is for our students to pass Calculus successfully before graduation from high school. Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher to join our team for a six-week, summer program. This position offers an excellent opportunity for educators to inspire and educate students in mathematics during the summer break. The ideal candidate should be passionate about teaching, skilled in mathematics instruction, and capable of creating a positive and engaging learning environment. In this position, you will be expected to:
Deliver effective mathematics lessons to students based on the provided curriculum, ensuring that all content aligns with grade-level standards and learning objectives
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to promote student learning and achievement
Create a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning, while maintaining both discipline and order among students
Tailor classroom instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, providing support and enrichment opportunities as necessary
Regularly assess student performance and progress, provide feedback to students and parents, and adjust instruction accordingly
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance, providing reports to program administrators as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Valid teaching certification or licensure in mathematics or related subject area
Previous teaching experience preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
Enthusiasm for working with students during the summer months
Requirements:
Letter of Recommendation
Copy of Valid Teaching Credential (or Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit)
Copy of TB Test (showing negative results within the last four [4] years)
Verification of Live Scan Fingerprinting Clearance (to be renewed every four [4] years)
Proof of current automobile insurance
Compensation:
$42 per hour. This position is a temporary position covering six weeks during the summer. Full-time hours during the program's duration. Continuation of the paid position is predicated on the organization’s being successfully funded.
