Covid-19 and 2021 Summer Program Update
From the Foundation Executive Director, Robert Escobar
Covid-19 Stance:
The Valdés Math organization is strongly urging our community members to receive the vaccine to get us all past this pandemic. Taking the vaccine is honoring your children, your family members and friends and demonstrates your care to promote a safe and healthy environment. What vaccine should you take? Whichever one is available to you at the earliest possible time. In the meantime, wear your mask, maintain your social distancing of at least 6 feet and wash your hands as frequently as possible. Encourage everyone you meet to do the same.
Summer Program Update:
Valdés is moving forward to conduct its 31st consecutive summer math program. This summer, as was the case for last summer, our class instruction will be substantially completed online. We are currently in the process of selecting state credentialed teachers who have experience with online learning programs. If you are interested in how we can provide our instruction to students in your family or among your friends, please move to our registration page.
This summer we are also working with a local school district to provide limited, in classroom, person to person instruction. Our Valdés Math Academy provides services to students in 4th through 8th grade who are at least one grade behind in their math skills. Our commitment is to work with school districts to provide a viable and valuable service to underserved students. The Valdés Math Institute serves students who are seeking math enrichment programs to prepare for taking a more advanced math curriculum when they start the 9th grade. This program will be conducted as online distance learning to help deal effectively with the impact of the COVID-19 virus.
